"When I first began looking for sober living here in San Diego, I was very confused. On the Internet I was bombarded with "vacation" style resorts. Very expensive! I thought, "I don't need a chef, I need to get sober! I'm not a movie star". On the other end of the spectrum there were all the sober "dumps," the typical Halfway house situation.
I thought, "I'm not a criminal just out of prison, nor do I wish to live in that sub-standard environment." Many of these houses were over-crowded and poorly managed, seemingly focused more on the bottom line than really providing residents with the best opportunity for them to build a real foundation in recovery.
I was looking for a clean, safe home in an upscale neighborhood, and most importantly structure, and recovery-oriented management and routine. Also I wanted a community that I could relate to, a group of people that want to get well and get on with their lives." -Barrett Hammond
That's why we created La Jolla Recovery.
We have created a sober living community that anyone would be proud to call home. Our community consists of a group of guys that are not victims in sobriety. We go to meetings, work steps, call our sponsors, and have a job or go to school. We are not a "glum lot."
